Garena Aoe
Garena Aov Apk
I originally bought the game back in 2000ish, but my disc got scratched up and wouldn't load the game anymore, so I bought another copy of the AoC. The 2nd disc got scratched and refused to load (we had a lot of lan parties, so the discs were heavily used), so I opted for the cracked version. When AOC came out on steam I had to buy it again because I never kept the cds/keys, and I ended up buying the expansions too because they were awesome.
Anyway, I like the game a lot, so I don't mind supporting the developers, but if something happened to my steam version I'd go back to the cracked version instead of buying the game for a 4th time. Sorry, but I've got my limits!
Also, the Age of Empires community is relatively small, so I don't think banning people who use a cracked version is worth it/beneficial to the community. I enjoyed the game so much that I got 5 of my friends at college to start playing it too (while i was using the cracked version). Me using the cracked version got my friends to buy the full version, so I guess you could say the cracked one was actually helpful to the community as a whole. Just my two cents. About a third/half Voobly's population (and the sheer majority lower 1400 elo) plays it with an illegal copy, specially from the developing world (aka, over two thirds of the players). Voobly in fact became famous first as it was the way to play pirated Age of Empires II along Gameranger (which appeared later), since it lacked any relevant competitive advantage to the official way back in the day unlike it is today. If they began hunting illegal copies they would just shoot themselves down pretty heavily.
Funny part that it is not like many of those players have never brought the game, many have done, but discs have gone missing, maybe it was your brother's copy and you stopped living with him and so on: it is a 18 years old game! My original copy is long dead, for example (though I brought the HD version). Steam is a super popular platform, but still the majority of PC players have not got into it yet neither (there are many reasons to not do so). You usually find a lot of people pirating the game merely because they felt nostalgic and it is just a quicker and easier way to get going. For years, Microsoft let pirated versions of Windows run wild in the markets that couldn't easily afford the sticker price. Not because they couldn't stop it, but because they wanted people to run Windows whether they wanted to pay for it or not.
The Voobly and extended AoE2 community, pirates and legitimates alike, in the end resulted for millions of additional copies sold via the relaunch of the game in AoE2:HD. Well played to them. I doubt even Microsoft cares about scaring off some tens of thousands of fans, much less Voobly. Why does Voobly allow illegal copies of AoC to be used?
There is currently no way to detect an illegal copy. Voobly going to be the next garena. Garena used to be the go-to place for dota. 99.99% of people there used to play with pirated copies as paying and playing on blizzard's lame ass ghost town servers was gay. Then Valve made dota and it twisted Garena's arm or straight-up paid Garena to shutdown its lan games section so valve's dota could get traction. Same thing is going to happen to voobly now that Microsoft has started paying some attention to Age of Empires.
I bet voobly is gonna sellout.
